Dr Semmelink heads Youth@HEART’s operations in the capacity of executive director. Both full-time and part-time volunteers support him in achieving Youth@HEART’s objectives.
The volunteer workers can be classified as follows:
- Professional people who offer their services for free to the youth crisis centres, e.g. medical doctors, psychologists, pastoral-psychologists, social workers, clergy, etc. Also in this category are various other people that render support and advisory services.
- Counsellors are people who have done the basic training course in youth counselling and who donate counselling time to the youth crisis centres.
- HEART Transformation Team. Young people that do community service on the basis of a "year of your life". They donate their services, free of charge, for a year, in exchange for on-the-job training. They receive training in various courses from our own curriculum, thus enabling them to go back to their community, equipped for life. In co-operation with local congregations that host them, they get in job training that they have to apply in the local communities. We are currently seeking new hosting congregations for 2009/2010.
